I don't think I have ever been this excited to see a movie.

This Just Seems Cruel

I understand this is meant to be "art," but it seems more like they are just rubbing it in the poor piglet's face. "Hey Piggy, I believe your only purpose on this earth is to be eaten. I will make a mockery of this and reconstruct you using your cured body parts.  Yes, this is what you lost your life for."

Pig, from Sophie H Powell

I mean, are they at least planning on eating it afterwards? Because then it wouldn't be SO bad.

Inspiration.

I think we should all try to be a little more like the Crazy Nastyass Honey Badger.  And possibly Randall.

The Minnie Update.

So as we know, Minnie's big day was today.  A couple days before her surgery, I was instructed by the vet to administer Clindamycin (Dr. Ganda's favorite!) twice a day for two and half days.  That cat may seem small and sweet, but she is strong and does NOT have a taste for medicine.  My solo struggles in squirting 1mL of Clinda down my cat's throat was sorta funny to me, so I thought I'd record one of my efforts for all to see.

Anyway.  So I dropped Minnie off this morning, and then an hour and a half later, I get a call from the vet. I panicked because I wasn't supposed to pick her up until 3:30, and it was only 10:00, and I had signed a little thing on the release form saying that if something went wrong, I wanted them to call me ASAP.  So I freaked.  Then the nice hippie vet doctor man informed me that my dear Minnie's teeth were all barely hanging on by a thread.  We're talking loosey goosey, kind of just chilling on the alveolar crest, waiting for a good moment to jump into the back of Minnie's throat.  And they were sore.  Really sore.  So sore, when she was under general anesthesia, if you touched any of her teeth, they would automatically chatter.  Since she was in such bad shape, all of her teeth but the canines had been extracted.

My POOR baby.  So I cried and said thank you to the doctor man, and waitied patiently for the next five and a half hours to go by so I could go get her already.

When I finally went to pick her up, she was awake and seemed okay.  The vet gave me some before and after pictures, we had a little chat, and they sent us on our merry way.

Big Doggie, Sad Story

Sad news today for the world's tallest dog, Gibson. He had to have his right arm amputated because he has bone cancer and will soon be undergoing chemotherapy. Poor wittle guy.

This story was particularly meaningful for this blog because he is from our very own EJ's hometown, Grass Valley.

Minnie's Z-Friend

I know you've all been dying to know. It's true! My little girl is growing up. I've known for a while now that she had a "special" friend that she spent all day gazing out the screen door at. Her several recent attempts to break out of the house were futile efforts to encounter her friend. The only question was whether Miss Minnie had a boyfriend or a girlfriend, so we just decided to call him/her her z-friend.

Well, the other day I lured Minnie's friend over with some treats that were ultimately rejected, but I had enough of a chance to catch a glimpse at the goods and... turns out we have a boy! Then he let me pet his scraggly little head for a while, and he was kind enough to pose for this photo.

Sadly, turns out that Minnie is just a chip off the ol' block as far as taste in guys goes. Not the finest fellow around, but I guess he will do for now.

Get Your Volunteer On

Big Sunday, the "largest regional community service event in America" is this weekend. You can volunteer to work on all different sorts of projects and even help kiddies at their lemonade stands to benefit charities for children or volunteer for singles projects.

I'm kind of excited about the Pet Adoption Fair on Saturday morning. Anyone want to spend the morning with some puppies and kittens??

And you get a free t-shirt and snacks for helping out. Score!

RIP Albert the Owl

I came home the other day and found feathers all over the floor. I knew at once what had happened - Albert, left alone on the mantel as part of our beautiful* mantel display, had fallen into mercy of the paws of Minnie.

It was a tragic scene, and the attack continued upon my discovery.

Albert, you were a good owl and had rigid feet. You will be missed, although you will also remain on the floor in front of the fireplace so you can continue your new life as a chew toy. RIP.

*The term beautiful is used loosely in this context.

In Honor of 4/20 and Earth Day

I thought I'd post one of my favorite YouTube videos, the Dinosaur Rap. (Get it... Dinosaurs... Earth... and 4/20.)

Also, I tried a Google Image search for a gangster dinosaur, and this is what I got.

Another Reason I Love Monkeys

In case anyone out there was unaware, I love monkeys. Their goofy little faces and tenacious little fingers make my heart melt, and their social aptitude and capacity for logic never fail to impress me! So when I read this article, I couldn't help but giggle a little. Monkeys. They really aren't so different from us humans.

It turns out that a group of Chimpanzees studied in West Africa have been caught trading meat for sex. And it works! Apparently those lady chimps just can't resist it.

I don't about you, but anyone who offers me free food is a winner in my book.

New Yorker's...

At it again!

Well, by "New Yorkers" I mean Nassau County-ers, and to be more specific, Hempsteaders.

Anyway, I applaud you for thinking outside the box. This clever little group of folks has found an economical way to keep the grass in their parks nicely trimmed - they've adopted some baby Nigerian dwarf goats to graze away! These little guys are currently "in training," but once ready they will be released into the wild grasslands of Hempstead's parks to practice their trade.

Not only that, but they have simultaneously considerably upped the cute factor of their entire county.

Adorable animal products!

I stumbled onto http://www.nutandbee.com/stickers/ by following a link from http://shirt.woot.com/, possibly the most nerdy of my regularly requented websites. The stickers and buttons sections of Nut&Bee are my fave, but I am torn about buying them because I'm 95% sure I could draw them myself.

What led me to the site was a shirt featuring the delightfully whimsical narwhal pictured at left. As a sidenote, I just discovered this creature existed like six months ago. It looks completely made up and mythical, no? Sadly, they are significantly more cute in cartoon form than in person.

Cute?

I can't decide.

Mandatory Adorable Post

Has this ever happened to you?

It happens to me at most meetings I'm forced to attend at work. My thoughts are usually represented by the tiger on the right. On the bright side, my job is extremely insignificant, so I am rarely invited to such meetings.

I think this is also highly applicable to the meeting in which someone agreed to green light the Vanity Fair article described below.

ps. Hello world! I am another of Roxy's co-bloggers. My specialty is adorable animal photos. :)
